Carmagnola is a charming town steeped in history and art.
Nowadays famous for its Peppers Festival, it also offers interesting cultural events.
The historical centre is full of ancient buildings among which Casa Cavassa, the seat of the “SocietàOperaia di Mutuo Soccorso” (Mutual Help Workers’Association) for a century and once the residence of the Saluzzo Marquis.
The most interesting worshipping places are: the church of Sant’Agostino, where the veneration of the Immaculate Virgin began, and the Synagogue, witnessing three hundred years of Jewish presence in Carmagnola.
A famous Culture and Hemp Cloth Manufacture Museum was founded near the last “senté” (path) still extant. Under a long canopy, the museum houses old tools and a rich documentation of the traditional rope manufacturing processes.
